SOAPBOX of the week: Intentional magical mystery

“An idea can turn to dust or magic, depending on the talent that rubs against it.”     – William Bernbach, businessman

Ask anyone walking down the street, and they’ll insist they’ve had a million dollar idea pass them by…someone stole it or they just never got around to cashing in on it.  I’m sure you’ve got your own you’re still kicking yourself over.  I’d argue, though, that even the little specks of creative, clever, and crazy notions you cultivate could become spectacular gems.  Point is, regardless of their presumed magnitude …or money-making ability… only you can give your concepts legs to leap out of your brain and become tangible possibilities.  So, hone in on the ones that bring sparkle to your spirit.  Devote attention to creating their bright futures in reality.  Then adorn yourself in the celebration of their magical impact.

SOAPBOX of the week: Move, groove and grow in faith

“Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.”       -Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., minister & social activist

Daunted by great decisions, we seek to get it in gear and try something new.  What makes us hesitate?  What happened to our enthusiasm of leaving Point A?  Or the belief that something groovy is just around the corner?  Well, it’s still there.  If you listen closely, the first step is already calling you and the promise from faith-filled action will ignite and propel your spirit forward at the perfect pace.  Ironically, the horror of standing still then becomes your driving force against the once-intimidating challenge of The Big Picture.  So, give it a shot.  Write down your goals and gameplan.  Listen to your heart, for it has the power to spark the memory that success ain’t complicated.  Just place faith in the ground beneath your feet…and climb!

SOAPBOX of the week: The sabotage of success

“It’s not who you are that holds you back, it’s who you think you’re not.”     – Anonymous

We all know what fear of failure feels like, right?  Trepidations overwhelm our initiatives and we fear falling flat on our faces…perhaps because we believe that WHO WE ARE ain’t up to par for the challenge at hand.  Makes sense right?  Well, there are also frequent times when we fear success just as strongly, if not moreso.  Crazy, huh?  Here, we let our self-images run amuck in negative energy and we end up believing that WE’RE NOT that person ready for the next level.  We sense the success we’ve created is just within reach …but convince ourselves there’s no way we’re prepared for the changes and greater opportunities that’ll come along with the leap.  Folks, release yourself from a doomed image!  Imagine a great new one and you’ll become it. Elect to bury the fear and bring blossom to a brighter future.

SOAPBOX of the week: Pleasure in the pilgrimage

“To live only for some future goal is shallow.  It’s the sides of the mountain that sustain life, not the top.”     – Robert M. Pirsig, writer & philosopher

On “the journey of life”, we aspire to reach countless goals, marked by flashy finish lines.  Strapped in, we hit cruise-control, determined to follow our self-made map.  En route, though, we must stop for fuel, get caught in speed traps, miss street signs, and sometimes end up entirely lost!  Our course?  Looks more like an Etch-a-Sketch drawing!  But, folks, it always will.  The beauty is found in the scribble, not the spreadsheet.  Finish lines get blurred and even replaced by the surprise successes that pop up.  Sometimes we’ll forget where we were heading in the first place!  How fabulous is that?!  So, go on: pull over for gorgeous sunsets.  Chat with the locals.  Get distracted by the luscious landscape and pack a camera for a wonderfully unmappable journey!
