SOAPBOX of the week: the victory of integrity

“You can stand tall without standing on someone. You can be a victor without having victims.”     – Harriett Woods, politician and women’s rights activist

This ain’t fuzzy math, folks!  Webster doesn’t define “getting ahead” as squashing someone else and shoving them to the back of the line.  Nor does the big book characterize a victor as “one who leaves scapegoats and sitting ducks in his wake”. Folks, earning desired recognition, reward or reign is best balanced with reciprocal gestures, never rogue exploitation of the game’s underachievers, second-placers or innocent bystanders.  For providence fulfills her own uncompromising promise of eye-for-an-eye idealism.  Simply put, Mom is, was, and always will be right.  Period.  So think before you say or do something when you’re crusading for the gold medal, and you’ll not only avoid tarnishing your reputation and future; you’ll ensure that your adornment is admired as well as the worthy person who wears it.
